Naomi Osaka failed in the first half of the month at the Indian Wells tournament. However, this is hardly a surprise. In her last tournament at Indian Wells, Naomi got off to a tough start with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Sloane Stephens. In the second-round match, the Japanese once again suffered a nervous breakdown as she was psychologically unable to withstand the pressure from the stands and lost to Veronika Kudermetova (0-6, 4-6).
It was a very painful defeat, but we have to understand that Osaka has been playing very rarely recently. Now it is not a question of psychology, but the banal absence of constant match practice. The tournament in Miami will be only her fourth one this season.
By the way, Naomi is only 77th in the current ranking. In the case of another failure, Osaka can lose her place in the TOP-100.

Sharma reached the second round at Indian Wells. For her, it’s quite a success. Sharma lost to Tomova in the qualification final but as a lucky loser, she made it to the main draw. She managed to outplay Magda Linette (6-4, 7-6) in the first round before losing to Victoria Azarenka (3-6, 5-7).
Sharma has only one win so far this season at the WTA.
