Friday’s Russian Premier League fixture sees two of the newly-promoted sides meet each other as Tosno host SKA Khabarovsk. SKA will have travelled 8,765km and through seven time zones just to get to the venue for this match.

Tosno have been on a very good run of late and have won two of their last three outings, most recently recording a shock victory against in-form Lokomotiv Moscow. They will also feel they should have picked up at least a point against CSKA Moscow in the second of those three matches after they put in a good performance against the former champions.

When compared to their relegation rivals, Dmytro Parfenov’s men have actually been pretty good in both boxes with their records of five goals scored and seven conceded being the joint-best of the bottom five teams. Additionally, Tosno have found the back of the net in each of their last three outings with the impressive performances of forward Anton Zabolotnyi hearning him a debut call-up to the Russian national team.

The side from Leningradskaya Oblast are not actually playing at their official home this season after it was deemed substandard by the Russian Premier League. This means that they are playing at Zenit St. Petersburg’s former home – Petrovsky Stadium. Unfortunately though, it has been a bad start to life at their new home for Tosno with zero points taken from a possible nine so far. However, it must be mentioned that two of those matches were against title challengers Zenit and CSKA Moscow. Additionally, as mentioned earlier, Tosno actually put in a good display against CSKA which will give them a boost going into this match against SKA.

After a dreadful first four games, SKA have improved dramatically in the last couple of weeks and are now undefeated in their last two matches, picking up four points in the process.

The Army Men had a huge problem with their forward line at the very beginning of the campaign and failed to find the back of the net in any of their opening four matches. However, they have now scored three in their last two outings. Although their record of seven Goals Against may be the joint-best defenisve record in the bottom six, it must be said that SKA have kept just one clean sheet this campaign.

Given the vast travelling distances they have to endure, it is no surprise that SKA have lost all of their away matches so far this season – failing to score in any of them.

Tosno are unsurprisingly the favourites here given SKA’s terrible away form. Furthermore, to rub salt into SKA’s wounds, it must be noted that they have lost all six of the previous meetings between the two sides. Parfenov’s Tosno side have been playing well of late and I expect them to come out on top here as I doubt SKA will cause too many problems. Tosno to Win to Nil is priced at 141/100.
