Raphael Varane vows to help Manchester United beat Man City to make fans happy
Raphael Varane has told Manchester United fans that he and his team-mates will try and beat Manchester City at Etihad on Sunday in the Premier League.
Man City are the strong favourites to win the game this weekend according to bookmakers but in football, everything is possible and a team as big as Man United are capable of doing the impossible.
United are on a four-match winning run, having beat the likes of Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester City and Arsenal before the international break.
The Red Devils lost both league games to Manchester City last season without scoring a single goal while conceding six goals in the process.
Manchester United are a different side this season under Erik ten Hag and are eager to play against the best in order to prove how deep they have adapted to Ten Hag’s style of play.
And Raphael Varane has promised that Manchester United will do all they can to win beat Manchester City, just as they have done against Liverpool and Arsenal in August and September respectively.
Speaking ahead of the Manchester derby, the France international told TLC Electronics: I think it especially comes from the fans. I think the rivalry is very important for them and we respect that. And we want to make them happy, so we want to fight and to win against teams like City or Liverpool.”

Although this is Varane’s second season at Old Trafford, the former Real Madrid centre-back has claimed that he feels like a Mancunian already.
“Yeah, I feel comfortable. I also feel the support of the fans so that’s very important,” Varane added.
The 29-year-old defender is expected to maintain his starting role alongside Lisandro Martinez at the heart of Manchester United’s defence.
