Dave Edwards makes Diego Costa prediction ahead of West Ham clash
The former Wolves midfielder believes it’s ‘difficult to imagine’ the 33-year-old starting against West Ham this weekend.
The Spaniard signed a contract which will keep him at the Molineux Stadium until next summer, 2023.
After joining the Premier League side, the 33-year-old has already started full training and could be one of Bruno Lage’s attacking options in the upcoming fixtures.
Speaking via Express and Star, Edwards claimed the team should let Costa know ‘how much work’ he needs before he is at his sharpest.
“It is difficult to imagine him starting. But you want to be looking to get him on and getting those match minutes under his belt, at least.
“They need to get Costa in the team to see where he is at and properly assess how much more work he needs before he is at his sharpest.
“Training, after all, can be such a false environment when it comes to fitness.
“You can do all the running, conditioning and strength work you want. But when Costa is out on the pitch, I am sure his lungs will feel a lot worse than they have for a long time.”
